We recently expanded our Sample Sale section to include bracelets and rings. I think rings and bracelets make especially great gifts. You don’t have to worry about size, or whether someones ears are sensitive to a certain metal. Remember it’s always ok to buy yourself gifts as well! Many of the pieces are half off, take a look HERE.
And while you’re over at our website, be sure to take a look at my Ceramic Art section. I wrote about my ceramic work in Wednesday’s blog entry, and about how many clay pieces were featured in the Whitney Biennial. In case you did not realize why clay is so close to my heart, you can take a look at the ceramic art I have been making by clicking HERE.
I make large-scale mosaic wall hangings using ceramic tiles I’ve made, usually at Greenwich Village Pottery House. I arrange and rearrange the tiles around until I’m happy with the composition. Since the tiles never perfectly fit together, I use tile glue to mount them and fill the space in between with grout, a kind of light weight concrete. After it all dries, the mosaic is ready to be hung up.
Since I’ve had kids I’ve made an effort to have an evening to myself every week. Ceramics class has been the perfect way for me to do that. 25 years ago when my boys were both toddlers I started leaving them alone with their dad one night a week- I would leave for class at 6pm and not come home till late when they were asleep. It was so fun and relaxing to just be alone and play with clay for a few hours. Now, 25 years later, I still go once a week to Greenwich Pottery House, and hopefully I can keep going for 25 years to come!
